REQUEST FOR BID PROPOSAL

 

Berea Municipal Utilities is accepting bid proposals for high efficiency fluorescent office and warehouse lighting.

Bids will be received as per fixture cost and will be divided into two separate packages.

Attention of bidders is particularly called to the requirements as to conditions of employment to be observed under the contract EO 11246, Title VI and other requirements; and the standard terms for contracts using ARRA funds (Buy American).  Women-owned and Minority-owned businesses are encouraged to participate.

 

PACKAGE #1                        (OFFICE AREA)

Total 280 fixtures

Recessed fluorescent luminaire retrofit to replace the current LITHONIA 2’ X 4’ 4 bulb T-12 fluorescent fixture.

Quoted fixtures shall meet or exceed the following specifications in order to be considered.  The lamps and ballast must be tested in accordance with the appropriate IESNA and ANSI reference standards, and must meet OSHA/NRTL and UL safety guidelines.

  • Luminaire shall be a three bulb fixture (bulbs included) with a minimum 45,000 hour average life for each bulb.
  • Bulbs shall be rated as T-8, 32 watt and no less than a 4,000 Kelvin color temperature rating.
  • Fixture shall include a minimum 75% efficient 36 cell thin blade low glare specular louver.
  • The fixture shall be constructed with rigid spot welded and powder coated housing.
  • The housing shall not be over 3-12” deep, 24” wide and 48” long in order to provide an exact fit in existing ceiling recess.
  • The louver must be attached with concealed hinged latching system.
  • The ballast must be a 120V-277V univolt ballast and include a minimum 5 year warranty.

PACKAGE #2                        (WAREHOUSE AREA)

Total 200 fixtures

High performance industrial high bay fluorescent luminaire fixture to replace existing 400W metal halide 1 bulb fixture.

Quoted fixtures shall meet or exceed the following specifications in order to be considered.  The lamps and ballast must be tested in accordance with the appropriate IESNA and ANSI reference standards, and must meet OSHA/NRTL and UL safety guidelines.

  • Luminaire must use 54 watt maximum T5 style high output fluorescent bulbs.
  • Bulbs shall be included with the fixture and have a minimum warranty of 35,000 life hours.
  • Bulbs must have a minimum color temperature rating of 6000 Kelvin with a color rendering index (CRI) rating of 80 or higher.
  • Fixture must use an Advance ICN Series 4 bulb ballast with an operating voltage of 120V-277V and a 5 year minimum warranty.
  • Each fixture shall be delivered per-wired with a UL rated 10 foot coated power cord pre-stripped ready to connect in junction box.
  • Each fixture shall include a 10 foot Lithonia adjustable aircraft hanging kit or a hanging kit of similar design.

 

All proposals must include complete list of specifications with design drawings and manufacturer model numbers.

Bid proposals must be presented as per fixture cost and include a cost of each office type lighting fixture and a cost of each warehouse type lighting fixture.  The City of Berea may at its discretion award the bid to two separate vendors.

Bids will be accepted at the office of the Mayor, Berea City Hall, 212 Chestnut Street, Berea, Kentucky 40403.

Bid proposals shall be submitted no later than 4:00 pm on September 06, 2011.

Bids will be opened at 6:30 PM September 06, 2011 during the regular meeting of the Berea City Council.

The City Council of the City of Berea reserves the right to accept or reject any and all bids, to waive any irregularities or discrepancies in bidding, and to select the bid, if any, that it determines to be in its best interest.
