Berea Municipal Utilities provides reliable electric service to roughly 5,320 homes and businesses within the Berea area. BMU receives its power supply through an All Requirements Purchase Power Agreement with Kentucky Municipal Energy Agency.
BMU is responsible for the operation and maintenance of all electric infrastructure consisting of: (2) Distribution Substations- Rash Road and Oak Street stations, (10) Distribution Circuit Breakers, 1,650 Pole Mount Transformers, 260 Pad Mount Transformers, 81 Miles of Overhead lines, and 12 Miles of Underground lines.
This Electric Division is responsible for all new construction, system improvement, outage prevention and response.
